Cede Prudente
Member of the International Environment Photographers Association (IEPA)
Cede Prudente is a man with a mission, and that mission is to document every
aspect of Borneo’s environment so that his images can contribute towards the
conservation of this exceptional island. He was born in Lahad Datu, Sabah and now
based in Sandakan on Sabah’s east coast, he lives in one of the world’s most
diverse and exciting environment for wildlife photography.
Cede has over two decades of experience in nature trips and expeditions, he
continues his quest to documenting birds and mammals of Borneo. He
established North Borneo Safari, a tour agency offering a range of adventure,
birding tours and PhotoSafari in Malaysia. Appointed consultant to many Natural
History Documentary filming in Borneo, which includes the BBC and National
Geographic TV. With much interest in Bird conservation, he is a co-founder of the
Sandakan Borneo Bird Club. He provides Talks and workshop and actively
promoting nature education, conservation awareness, including birding and wildlife
photography.
He was the principal photographer for Wild Borneo, The National Parks and other
Wild Places of Malaysia and Orangutan, Wild Malaysia 2014, Proboscis Monkeys of
Borneo, Sabah Colour Guide: Kinabatangan, Tabin: Sabah’s Greatest Wildlife
Sanctuary, The Photographic Guide to Birds of Sepilok, Wild Sabah and Sepilok
Forest. His images are in constant demand for magazines and Malaysian tourism
promotion material.
In the field, Cede is totally dedicated to getting ‘THE’ shot. He may be almost up to
his hips in a stream, slithering in the mud on a jungle trail or perspiring under the
relentless tropical sun, but he never gives up. And it’s hard work carrying heavy
tripods, cameras with extra long lenses and all the other paraphernalia needed.
Despite all those years of seeing and capturing on film some remarkable animal and
insect behaviour, as well as some remarkably beautiful pristine environments, Cede
is never blasé, perhaps it is partly this constant sense of wonder and respect for the
natural world that helps make him such a fine photographer.
