spaces). The emissary veins constrict and blood collects in the corpora as a result of
the trabecular smooth muscle being pushed against the fibroelastic tunica albuginea.
In the presence of a complete erection and a working valve system, the corpora
transform into noncompressible cylinders from which blood cannot escape. A stiff
erection is the result of this relaxation and venous obstruction. The spinal pathways
that control erectile function and ejaculation are activated or inhibited by the central
nervous system (CNS), which has a substantial effect on these processes.
