3. Catholic University of America
The event began at the Raymond A. Dufour Athletic
Center, where student-athletes and Special
Olympians played volleyball together.
Following a speech from Anthony Sokenu, Special
Olympics DC’s associate director of sports, the
student-athletes ran to the football field to show their
support of Special Olympians by plunging into an
above-ground pool. Through this annual event,
Special Olympics DC and the Catholic University of
America encourage students to help end the bullying
of people with disabilities and refrain from using the
“R-word.”
