2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cylinder head (28). The weight of
cylinder head (28) is approximately 175 kg (385 lb). Position cylinder head (28) onto the
cylinder block.
3. Apply Tooling (B) to bolts (25). Apply Tooling (C) to new bolts (27). Install bolts (25) and
(27) according to the following procedure:
a. Tighten Bolt (1) through Bolt (14) in a numerical sequence to a torque of 300 ± 15
N·m (221 ± 11 lb ft).
b. Loosen Bolt (1) through Bolt (14) until the washers are loose under the bolt heads.
c. Tighten Bolt (1) through Bolt (14) in a numerical sequence to a torque of 130 ± 15
N·m (95 ± 11 lb ft).
d. Tighten Bolt (1) through Bolt (14) again in a numerical sequence to a torque of 130 ±
15 N·m (95 ± 11 lb ft).

17. At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.
Steam can cause personal injury.
Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the
fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.
Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin
and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Drain the engine coolant into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Drain the
coolant to a level that is below the water temperature regulator. Refer to Operation and
Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct procedure.
