1. Remove plug (2), ring (1), and cover (3).
2. Remove bolts (4) and retainer (5).
3. Remove gears (6), gear (8), and bearings (7).

4. Remove washer (10) and carrier (9).
5. Remove bolts (11) and retainers (12).
6. Remove gears (13), gear (15), and bearings (14).

7. Remove washers (16), coupling (17), washer (18), and setscrews (19).
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a
released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to
release the spring force.
8. Remove plug (20) and the O-ring seal.

9. Remove spring (21).
10. Remove poppet (22).
11. Repeat Step 8 through Step 10 for the opposite side.

12. Remove bolts (24) and head (23).
13. Remove port plate (25) and bearing (26).
14. Remove O-ring seals (28), O-ring seal (27), and springs (29).

15. Install Tooling (A).
16. Apply approximately 345 kPa (50 psi) of shop air pressure in order to remove piston (30).
17. Remove O-ring seals (31).
18. Remove barrel (32), discs (33), and plates (34).

19. Remove pins (35).
20. Use a suitable press and Tooling (B) in order to remove retaining ring (36).

21. Remove washers (37) and spring (38).
22. Remove pistons (39), bearing (41), and retainer (40).
23. Remove swashplate (42).

24. Remove piston (43) and rockers (44).
25. Remove shaft assembly (45).
26. Remove spring (45) and seal (47).

27. Use Tooling (D) in order to remove bearing (48A) from shaft (45).
28. Use Tooling (C) in order to remove nut (48).
29. Remove ring gear assembly (49) from motor housing (50).

30. Remove Duo-Cone Seal Gp (51) and bearing (52).
31. Remove Duo-Cone Seal Gp (53).

Start By:
a. Remove the final drive and the travel motor.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool
Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
1. Remove bolts (1) that hold sprocket (2) to the final drive. Use two persons to remove the
sprocket from the final drive. The weight of sprocket (2) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb).
NOTICE
Failure to follow the recommended procedure or the specified tooling
that is required for the procedure could result in damage to
components.
To avoid component damage, follow the recommended procedure
using the recommended tools.
2. Put an alignment mark across the section of the travel motor and the final drive for assembly
purposes. The parts must be reinstalled in the original locations of the parts.

3. Remove plugs (3), clip (4), and cover (5).
4. Remove thrust plate (6) and plate (7).
5. Remove planet gears (8).

6. Remove bearing (11) and race (10) from planet gear (9). Repeat for the remaining planet
gears.
7. Remove sun gear (12). Remove carrier (13).
8. Remove sun gear (14).

9. Use a suitable punch to rotate plate (16). This action will loosen screw (15). Remove screw
(15) and plate (16). Repeat for the remaining screws and plates.
10. Remove planet gear (17).
11. Remove bearing (18), race (19), and thrust washer (20) from planet gear (17). Repeat for the
remaining planet gears.
