1. What is a Film ?

optical phenomenon known as persistence of vision,
this gives the illusion of actual, smooth, and
continuous movement.
 Film is a remarkably effective medium in
conveying drama and especially in the evocation of
emotion. The art of motion pictures is exceedingly
complex, requiring contributions from nearly all the
other arts as well as countless technical skills (for
example, in sound recording, photography, and optics
). Emerging at the end of the 19th century, this new art
form became one of the most popular and influential
media of the 20th century and beyond.

2. Cast and Crew of Film
 film crew is a group of people, hired by a production
company, for the purpose of producing a film or
motion picture. The crew is distinguished from
the cast, as the cast are understood to be
the actors who appear in front of the camera
or provide voices for characters in the film. The crew
is also separate from the producers, as the producers
are the ones who own a portion of either the film
studio or the film's intellectual property rights. A film
crew is divided into different departments, each of
which specializes in a specific aspect of
the production. Film crew positions have evolved over
the years, spurred by technological change, but many
traditional jobs date from the early 20th century and
are common across jurisdictions and filmmaking
cultures.

3. * Producer
 In the film industry, the producer is responsible
for developing and launching a motion picture.
A producer arranges financing, hires writers,
directors, and key creative personnel, and
oversees all aspects of pre-production,
production, and post-production.

5. * Assistant Directors
 simply assistant director, manages the
logistics of creating a film or a television
series. These professionals oversee
production heads and serve as a point of
contact between the director and the rest of a
production’s cast and crew.

6. *The Casting Director
A casting director is responsible for choosing the cast, or the
actors and actresses who will fill the roles in a production. This
production may be something like a film, television show, or
play. In smaller productions, the director and producer will typically
maintain control over casting and select who will perform.
*The Location Manager
The Location Manager finds, secures and supervises
locations for a film, TV, or commercial production. They submit
permits, negotiate rates, coordinate parking, trash removal, and
navigate any required police activity.
*The Production Manager
A production manager, often referred to as a unit production
manager , is responsible for managing many of the ins-and-
outs of a film production. They oversee the budget, the hiring, the
shooting schedule, and all the business aspects of a film project.

7. Director of Photography /
Cinematographer
 The Director of Photography - the DOP is
responsible for the look of the film on camera.
He is responsible to shoot the film in a style
that the director wants. He can play with lights,
colors, camera angles to get the most out of
the scene. He has to capture everything that
the director wants to convey through the
scenes he is capturing.

8. •The Art Director
An art director is, first and foremost, responsible for thinking
holistically. So, while details in costumes and props are important,
the art director will head entire job, blueprint and all. Sure, people like
to look at pretty
things, especially on video.
*The Production Designer
The production design gives the viewers a sense of the time period,
the plot location, and character actions and feelings. Working directly
with the director, cinematographer, and producer, production designers
have a key creative role in the creation of motion pictures and television
.

A costume designer is responsible for designing the clothes and
accessories actors wear and works with directors, production designers,
and art directors.

9. *The Storyboard Artist
A storyboard artist creates the initial visual representations of a
story’s narrative. In collaboration with the director, storyboard artists
visualize the story from a script or treatment. They then make visual
decisions that develop how the story looks on a storyboard panel.
