The document outlines initial ideas for a final major project, including a graphic novel set in medieval times about hunting or scouting, a 3D model of a 1900s jazz club, and electronic comic strips released online. It then focuses on developing an idea for a graphic novel set in early 1900s America about the early life and rise to fame of a jazz singer, with the potential inclusion of other notable jazz musicians of the time like Ella Fitzgerald. Research on comic fans' preferences informed the decision to create a hardback graphic novel exploring Ella Fitzgerald's career path.
This document outlines the schedule and tasks for a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production final major project on developing a graphic novel called "Cassie Coyne FMP, the Hollow Queen". The schedule spans from February 4th to May 20th and includes tasks such as launching the project, researching ideas, sketching characters, delivering a pitch, starting pre-production, rough sketching the storyboard, inking the drawings, and completing an evaluation by May 20th. Progress and completion of tasks are tracked weekly in the schedule.
The document outlines potential ideas for a final major project, including:
1) A graphic novel or comic book set in medieval times about hunting or scouting.
2) A 3D model of a 1900s jazz club environment.
3) A series of illustrated 1900s posters about jazz music to attract fans or increase interest in jazz.
The document then focuses on the idea of a graphic novel set in the early 1900s about a jazz singer rising to fame, and outlines plans to create a graphic novel in a hardback sketchbook about Ella Fitzgerald's rise to fame.

Scenario
Dark Horse publishers have commissioned me to write and illustrate a graphic novel based on an original concept of
my choice. The genre will be fiction and story will be set in the 1900’s with a surreal, fantastical twist. I will include
real jazz singers in the story that either make an appearance or are more involved in the plot. I have decided the
main character will be a young Ella Fitzgerald ‘Queen of Jazz’, before her rise to fame, when she is struggling to be a
part of the music industry. The target audience would be comic and graphic novel fans, and jazz and blues music fans.
This means that the majority of people who would be interested in my work would probably be wide and varied in
age. Once complete the project will be a readable graphic novel of good quality. It will be hand drawn and then
scanned in so the finished pages can be uploaded online as well.
2. Task 1 – FMP Interview Unit 1

different kinds of graphic novel and comics (hardback, softback, wire binders) I will evaluate current
trends and the most popular graphic novels, and research into advertising. This will include
quantitative research including sales numbers, ratings and views off and online; and also qualitative
research of reviews from professionals linked to the business (artists, cover designers, authors, and
conceptual artists) and fans. My initial research will include primary and secondary types of research,
the primary will be things carried out by myself such as interviews and questionnaires, studies and
observations, phone calls, emails, focus groups and audience panels. My secondary research focused on
the work others have done will include looking online, in books, magazines on websites
