2. Kids love sweets, and as they grow older, teens seem to be bottomless
pits of hunger, always looking for a snack. You and your kids might
seem different as night and day, personality­wise, but the good news is
we’re all still humans, who need to eat.

3. Preparing food together is the
perfect bonding activity.

4. You build relationships, and you can keep your hands and eyes
busy while you talk, and that distraction might make guarded kids
and teens feel more open to sharing about their lives. You also
secretly impart great lessons in life to your kids while cooking.

5. Younger kids get a lot of math experience in the kitchen while
measuring and doing fractions. They learn safety and how to properly
hold a knife or use a standing mixer. You can teach them food safety,
cleaning up as they go, and how to avoid cross­contamination.

6. Older kids learn skills for later in life when they go out on their own
and need to feed themselves. They learn self­confidence, and the joy
that can come from providing a treat or meal for someone else.

7. Plus, if you bake with them, you all get treats to eat afterward!
