Career Path and Accomplishments
The following is a descriptive overview of my diverse career that spans many different
areas of business and education and reflects tremendous accomplishments. At first
glance, it might appear to be a path of incongruous complexities. Upon further study I
hope it becomes obvious, in the words of Leonardo da Vinci, that “all things are
connected”.
Advertising- My career in advertising began as an Associate Art Director, after
graduation from Virginia Commonwealth University. Within four years I advanced to
Creative Director and was offered a position in Atlanta, Georgia. My creative career
included national and international awards of excellence and recognition. As a result, I
was asked to join the second largest and well recognized graphic design studio in the U.S.
as Vice President, Graphics Group. From this experience in management, creative
direction and sales, I decided to start my own Advertising Agency which merged with a
direct marketing company, to become Winter, Russell, & Eigel, a multi-million dollar
company. Our client list included; Coca Cola Fountain Division, Scripto Pens, Mead
Packaging, and Georgia Pacific among others.
Account Supervision- Curiosity has always been a part of my personality and as such, I
decided to explore the Account Supervision side of the Advertising Agency business. I
applied for, and got, the position of Account Supervisor for Chick-fil-A at McCann-
Ericson Advertising, Atlanta. Marketing became fascinating to me, so I picked up every
book and article I could read on the subject. I couldn’t resist when the opportunity was
presented to join an elite team of creative thinking, marketing savvy, futurists at
BellSouth after divesture.
Futurist- At BellSouth, as a member of the Strategic Market Planning for New Ventures
division, I was asked to forecast all aspects and influences of telecommunication into the
year 2010. This “White Paper” included financial, sociological, environmental,
psychological, engineering, functional, national and international, impacts (to name a few
considerations).
Senior Management- A phone call from a former employee recommended me for the
position of Senior Vice President/ Associate Publisher of an in-flight magazine company
in Miami. This position utilized my creative, marketing, sales, management, and
administrative background.
2. My senior management capabilities were recognized in the computer industry and as
such, I was offered the position of Senior Vice President/ International at a computer
company with responsibility for forty-four direct reports in international sales and
marketing. (see Resume for results)
The entrepreneurial spirit, once again, influenced my decision to start my own
business. Falcon Marketing & Management Inc. was established as a corporate
consulting firm and included The Falcon Learning Center and a move management
division. Clients included Motorola, Sensormatic, Siemens, NABANCO, Goodyear Tire
& Rubber Co., Metropolitan Cargo S.A., North Broward Hospital district, and 125 others.
The learning center was affiliated with Priority Management Inc., a productivity learning
organization with offices throughout the world. The marketing division assisted Fortune
500 corporations and start-up companies with new product introductions, identified
financial resources, wrote business plans, and developed feasibility studies.
Corporate Consultant- As CEO of The Falcon Group, I often conferred with corporate
CEO’s and Presidents of Fortune 400 companies to strategize new market entrees or help
with improving their organizational structure/productivity.
Pedagogical Proficiency- I have always believed that I should give back to society what
I have been fortunate to learn. While teaching Humanities at The University of Phoenix,
the opportunity was presented to start a new School of Design at American
Intercontinental University. This combined all of my past experience and brought the
rewards of seeing students begin their careers. In addition to my duties as Dean of The
School of Design and Chairman, Visual Communications department, I also taught.
Classes include the following: Advertising Design, Branding & Packaging, Typography,
Creative Thinking, Design Fundamentals, Research & Organization, Humanities, Public
Relations, Photography, Principles of Advertising, and History of Visual
Communications. As Director of Education at The Living Arts College, I also taught
Advertising Design.
During my fourteen years in higher education, I have become fully versed
in numerous accreditation requirements including CIDA/FIDER, ACICS
and SACS. My responsibilities have included building departments,
schools, and curriculum to meet both state and accreditation agency
requirements.
American Intercontinental University- I built The School of Design
from its inception to over 500 students in three years and gained SACS
accreditation for 6 programs including Interior Design, Graphic Design,
Fashion Marketing & Design, Photography, Audio/Film Production
and Game Design.
The School of Communication Arts- Upon my arrival as Director of
Education I was able to accomplish the following: first 3 months- ACICS
accreditation for 6 Associate degree programs; within 7 months- Board of
Governors of North Carolina approval for Bachelor of Arts degree in 5
3. programs; in 9 months- ACICS accreditation for Bachelor of Arts degree
