GENERAL
 Each cockpit of T-38 aircraft contains a manually
operated clamshell type canopy.
SAFETY
 A safety pin is provided for each cockpit jettison
internal “T” handle.
CANOPY AND MECHANISM
 The canopy assembly is mainly made of an
aluminium alloy frame and an acrylic panel.

 CANOPY warning light is located on the left side
instrument panel of each cockpit

 Canopy internal locking levers.

 Canopy external locking handles.
WARNINGS
 Canopy internal and external locking
lever/handle must be used only to lock and
unlock the canopy.
 Actual raising or lowering of the canopy must
be done by hand.
WARNINGS
 Avoid opening the canopy, when head winds
exceeds 30 knots. If you open the canopy
above 50 knots, canopy can be jettisoned
mechanically.
 Taxi speed is reduced to a very low speed (10
knots or less).
JETTISON SYSTEM
 Canopy Jettison internal “T” handle.
JETTISON SYSTEM
 Canopy Jettison external “D” handles are placed to
both side of aircraft.
