andtourismmanagementminor.Heenjoysplayingsports,surfing,andhangingout
withfriendsinhissparetime.AspartofthecampuspromotionteamTravishas
assistedincreatingsignage,promotingeventsandtheseriesaroundcampus,
purchasingmerchandiseforincentives,andvolunteeringatthepoliticalevents
hostedhostedbyTheBullyPulpitSeries.
“IoriginallysignedupastheaccountmanagerandIfeellikeIhavesucceeded
inmytitle.Ihavehelpedkeepthegroupinorderwhenitcomestomeetings
andbelievethatIhavealsobeenabletoassistthegroupinmakingdecisions
whensomethingswereupfordebate.Wheneverafellowteammemberwas
needingassistanceregardingataskIfeelthatIwasabletohelpwhenthey
neededit.Ihavereallyenjoyedworkingwithmyteammembersandhave
honestlyhonestlyfoundmyselflearningsomethingfromthemeveryday.”-Chase

fiveyears.Sheisacommunicationsmajorandpsychologyminorandhopestoeither
workincreativemarketing/PRorpoliticalcommunicationbeforeattendinggrad
schoolforpsychology.AspartoftheCanpus/CommunityRelationsteam,Taylorcreated
signageandpromotionalmaterialsandoversawallcreativeworktobefeaturedvia
email,onsocialmedia,oroncampus.
AshleySprouseisaSouthCarolinanative,andconsidersCharlestontobeherhome.Sheisa
communicationmajorandisdoubleminoringincreativewritingandwomen'sandgenderstudies.
AshleySprousecreatedsignagefortheseries.Shedesignedthetemplatetheseriescurrentlyuses
topromotetownhallmeetingsandon-campusvisitsfrompoliticians.Ashleyrecruitedvolunteers
andcommunicatedwiththeeventplanningteaminordertosuccessfullyimplementvolunteers
withtheseries.

AsapartoftheBullyPulpitseriesweareheretoencourageandfacilitatecivicparticipation
throughoutthestudentcommunitybyprovidingaplatformfordialoguewithournation’sleaders.
Throughtownhalleventswithpoliticalcandidates,voterregistrationdrives,studentdebates,
hostedmediaevents,uniquecampusserviceopportunities,andrelevantindependentstudy
experiences,TheBullyPulpitSeriesreinforcesthemessagethatthegrowthofour
countryisbackedandguidedbytheprocessofcitizeninterestandinvolvement.
MoMorespecifically,asthecampuspromotionsteamweareinchargeofsignage.
Nextsemesterwewillbegettingclosertothepresidentialelection,whichisonNovember8,2016;
wewillneedtoreinforceallpromotionswithinthecommunityandaroundcampus.
Wewillneedtocontinuetocreateinteractiveandengagingsignageandflyers
relatedtoTheBullyPulpitSeries’eventsandtopromotecivicengagement,
whichwillhopefullyhelpacquiremorepeople’sinterestinwantingtogetinvolvedandtoregister
tovote.Wehopetoimprovecivicengagementinthespring,becausethefirstsemesterfocusedmore
onponpromotingspecificevents.Nextsemesterweplantopromotetheactualseriesmore,
getmorestudentinvolvement,andlookintogettingbettermerchandisetouseasincentives,
whichinturnwillhopefullyproducelargercrowdsatourevents.Wecanaccomplishthisbycreating
socialmediacompetitionsthatrequireinvolvementwiththeseriesandgiveouttheseincentivesat
eventstoproduceabiggerturnout.

Atfirst,ourgroupmembershadtogettoknoweachother
Youcan’thaveasuccessfulgroupifthedynamicisoff.Ourgroup
chatted,texted,andfoundouteachother’sstrengthsand
weaknesses.Thesemesterwasofftoagreatstart.
Wedoverightintotheworkathand
Westartedofftheyearambitiously.Ourteamattemptedtorevamptheentire
brandimagebrandimagebycreatinganewlogo.Sadly,weweren’tabletoeverfinishacompletedlogo.
Whoknewcreatinganewbrandimagewassodifficult?
Ourteam createdsnazzysignageandmerchandise
Wecreatedqualityfliers,laptopstickers,andmorelikethisserieshasneverseen.
Asitturnsout,TaylorandAshleyarePhotoshopandDesignQueens.
Theycrankedoutawesomecreationsallsemester.
Thegroupalsomanagedtorecruitvolunteers
YYou’veneverseenadreamteamlikethisonebefore.Ourteamnot
onlyworkedonthebrandimage,butwealsomanagedtoprovidetheevents
withstudentvolunteers.
Throughallofourwork,welearnedsomuch
Emailmarketing,andbrandmanagement,andcampaignoutreach!Oh,my!
Thisteamhascomesofar,andwe’velearnedmore
thanwecanimagine.We’vecomesofar,learnednewskills,
andmadeitthandmadeitthrough… asateam.
