Brian’s Return
    Book written by Gary Paulsen
Connections and Illustrations by Brianna
When Brian Remembered the Wolf he had seen,
it reminds me of when Levi was walking around at night
and I mistook him for a coyote.
When Brian’s canoe tipped over,
it reminds me of when Bella jumped off a cliff,
into the water in New Moon.
When Brian lived in the wilderness,
it reminds me of when I was camping
in Banff and Jasper.
When the loon called while Brian was in the wilderness,
it reminds me of when Peter from the Fudge Series said that
Fudge was laughing like a loon at Sesame Street on TV.
When Brian answered the wolf,
it reminds me of when I tried to get
Newton to bring the ball back,
so I could throw it again.
When the wolf grew tired of duets with Brian,
who answered his calls, it reminds me of
when I was being chased, and I grew tired
of being chased.
When Brian couldn’t sleep at first,
it reminds me of how Fudge didn’t
like his little sister, Tootsie at first
in theFudge Series.

                               I wish Tootsie
                               was never born.
When Brian left the Wilderness,
it reminds me of when I left
Saskatchewan.
When two wolves come into
Brian’s camp, it reminds me of
the pack of werewolves from the
Twilight Saga.
When the book talks about a wolf and says ‘one small size’
this phrase reminds me of Seth from the Twilight Saga,
because he is smaller than the other werewolves.
When the book says ‘the canopy’,
these words remind me of when Jack and Annie
went to the Amazon Rainforest and its large canopy.
When Brian said, “I guess the wind is stronger than it looks,”
it reminds me of when I thought it was warm out but it
turned
out that it wasn’t really warm out.
When Brian felt that he didn’t belong outside of the
wilderness,
it reminds me of when Roy from Hoot felt like he didn’t
belong
outside of Montana.
When Brian paddled through a green wonderland,
it reminded me of how Alice called a place Wonderland
in Alice in Wonderland.
The Wilderness reminds me of Saskatchewan,
because there is many lakes, there is a river and
it is completely flat with many trees and wildlife.
When Brian feels sad for his own loss, Shakespeare and Juliet
and Romeo,
it reminds me of when I left Kendall in Saskatchewan and I
felt sad to leave her.
When Brian talks about a skunk who sort of “adopted” him,
reminds me of when I was almost sprayed by a skunk.
When Brian said that the mosquitos were bad- as bad as he’d
ever seen them, reminds me of when I was in Saskatchewan
and the mosquitos were really bad.
When a deer jumped into Brian’s canoe, it reminds me of
when I was in Thailand and monkeys climbed into our boats.
