Islam Primary Questions By Brendan Corrodi
What common standards do individuals in our society have with individuals in the Islamic society? hfh ?
Common Standards Freedom of Religion Caring for the Poor
Freedom of Religion Freedom of religion is a common standard in both societies. You can practice whatever religion you want. This leads me to believe that both societies were somewhat culturally diverse which is a very good thing because it adds new ideas, foods, and craftsmanship to the society.
Caring for the Poor Both societies make a point in caring for the poor. In the Islamic society, people must pay a tax, as part of the five pillars, to the poor. The United States government also works hard to raise money and supplies, by donations, for the poor. This shows that both societies think this is something that all should do and it is therefore a standard.
Some of these standards are similar simply because of human nature
How does human Nature show similarities between our Western way of life and the Muslim way of life? We like to have the ability to choose, especially when it comes to choosing your religion We like to feel protected (militarily) and or in power We like to believe in a higher being
The Ability to Choose our Religion This is something that we want just out of human nature. As people we want to be able to make these decisions on what we believe in and how we worship what we believe. Both the United States and the Muslim ways of life allow for people to believe what they want to. I think this is because of human nature because having this makes the citizens happier.
Feeling Militarily Protected People want to feel like they are not threatened because it is not a comfortable feeling. This means that in human nature people want to be assured that there is some form of military defense. The United States and the Muslim ways of life have this worked in. For the Muslims, the Qur'an states that citizens must also be warriors. This statement reassures people that people will join the military in times of need. As for the United States, they have a standing military ready to serve where ever when ever needed.
Believing in a higher being This is part of human nature and can be clearly seen as almost all cultures believe in some form of this. This is a similarity as the main religions both believe in this idea of us being lesser than someone else.
Though many aspects of these two ways of life are similar, Islam has one main message.
In the Islamic World, what is the ideal message meant to be for followers of this faith?
The Islamic faith is similar in many ways to our own. But will this appear in how we view them?
How do we view the Islamic people today? Today, some people view them for who they really are, people who are like us in many ways and who faithfully believe in their religion. Sadly, many other people view them as terrorists because of what happened at 9/11. This is not a true interpretation of the entire religion but it is still a view that is held by many people in the world today
