ABOUT THE AUTHOR JEARLINE TIPPINS
Miss Tippins was born in Talladega, Alabama, to Rubert and Mary Lee
Tippins. After her mother’s tragic passing, her father relocated to
Michigan, secured a job, and after a few years sent for her and her
sisters. Jearline, being an avid reader quickly excelled in all of her
classes as an “A” student. She graduated high school at the age of 16
and entered college the same year. At the age of 19 she graduated
with a degree in Business from Davenport University. Upon graduating
she entered the work force and started volunteering in her church as a
full-time Sunday School Teacher. Realizing the importance of
contacting all people, she volunteered to be a Literacy Tutor for adults,
as well. While working in the Marketing department for A T & T she
organized her first public speaking program on health and wellness and

stress management for more than 72 co-workers.
A few years later she assisted in the developing of a non-profit
organization, “The Infant Mortality Coalition,” to study the causes of
infant deaths. Through this organization she began Counseling on
Domestic Violence, and Child Abuse, in addition to working with her
church to start a Soup Kitchen program for the community. In
summation, Jearline has spent much of her life working with people
and trying to help the quality of life for many communities:

7 years as police volunteer (APAC)
12 + years Certified Literacy Tutor
7 years Just Say No Committee
7 years Infant Mortality Coalition
7 years Ethnic Festival Committee
Through volunteering, I was able to meet, teach, and learn from a
multiplicity of individuals. There were times for much laughter, and
there were times for lots of crying. I hope that my encounters were
received well and that I set a good example and proved to be a positive
influence to many people. One scripture that I would share with people
comes from the book of Genesis, “Always be kind, for many have
entertained Angels in unawares.” It’s about a time when strangers
came to Abrahams home, he was kind, and they turned out to be from
God. You never know who God will send your way. God bless.
