         They came from outer space---Mars, to be exact.

           With deadly heat-rays and giant fighting
         machines they want to conquer Earth and keep
                    humans as their slaves.

        Nothing seems to stop them as they spread terror
        And death across the planet. It is the start of the
             Most important war in Earth’s history.

                 And Earth will never be the same.




                        Not able to complete the requirements for his degree at
                        Normal School of Science in London, England, author
                        H.G. Wells found himself moving into his Aunt and

                        Uncle Wells’ house in London. Also living there was his
                        cousin, Isabel Mary, whom he married in 1891.
                        His marriage to her lasted four years, and ended when
                        Wells left her for one of the students he was tutoring at
                        his uncle’s school. Her name was Amy Catherine Robbins
                        and they were married in 1895. He had two sons with
                        her: George Philip and Frank Richard.
Some of H.G. Wells’ other works published around the same time as
War of the Worlds are: The Time Machine (1895), The Wonderful Visit (1895),
The Wheels of Chance: A Bicycling Idyll (1896), The Island of Doctor
Moreau (1896) & The Invisible Man (1897).
