Bonfire Night is an annual UK celebration held on November 5th. Traditionally, celebrations involved burning effigies of Guy Fawkes in bonfires and fireworks to commemorate the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605. On the eve of Bonfire Night, children would carry effigies called "Guys" and ask for pennies, which were used to purchase fireworks. Typical foods enjoyed on Bonfire Night include caramel apples, roasted potatoes, black peas with vinegar, and bonfire toffee.
