In Roman times, a slave would be designated as "king for a day" and have authority. The origins of the Epiphany cake or "La Galette des Rois" date back to the Middle Ages and is associated with the biblical Magi who brought gifts for baby Jesus. The traditional recipe includes puff pastry, almonds, sugar, eggs, butter and a hidden fava bean. By tradition the cake is eaten on January 6th to commemorate the visit of the Three Kings, but now it is consumed from late December through January paired with champagne. Eighty percent of Epiphany cakes are sold in Paris.

The traditional way to celebrate New Year's in France is with a cake called "La galette des rois" which contains a small figurine baked inside. Whoever finds the figurine in their piece of cake is named "king" for the day and wears a paper crown. This cake is eaten on January 6th, the Christian holiday of Epiphany, to commemorate the visit the three wise men paid to the infant Jesus.

Ancient egypt (Great Pyramid Khufu's pyramid)E-pul Kr
Daily life in ancient Egypt revolved around the Nile River. The annual flooding of the Nile enriched the soil and allowed for good harvests. Most Egyptians were farmers who lived in mudbrick homes in villages along the Nile. They grew their own food and traded with others. The ancient Egyptians also built large pyramids to serve as tombs for pharaohs. The largest of these pyramids, known as the Great Pyramid, was built at Giza for the pharaoh Khufu. It took around 20 years and a large workforce to construct the pyramid using stones weighing 2-4 tons each that were dragged into place up ramps.
This document lists common colors in both English and French and challenges the reader to name as many as they can within a time limit. It then provides the answers in both languages, including red, yellow, blue, black, green, orange, grey, white, brown, and purple in English and their French translations of rouge, jaune, bleu, noir, vert, orange, gris, blanc, marron, and violet.
French Colors Introduction - Les Couleurs (with "brun")Lucy S.
French Colors Introduction Presentation - this presentation will support your teaching of 11 colors in French (jaune, rouge, rose, orange, marron, blanc, noir, vert, bleu, gris, violet). For each word, I've included two sentences: one with a masculine noun and another with a feminine noun. The idea is to show students that the some color words vary in gender, too.
NOTE: if you prefer to teach "MARRON" instead of "BRUN", please check out the other color presentation in my Slideshare account, which is exactly the same, but with "MARRON".
