Major problems arose from the blizzard of 2010 in Frederick, MD, as snow plows struggled with road conditions, many homes lost power for days, and schools, businesses, and government closed due to no transportation running. The Washington/Baltimore area received over 65 inches of snow since December, the most since 1893. Transportation was severely impacted, with up to 16 inches falling in parts of western Maryland and 9 inches at Reagan National Airport on top of up to 3 feet already from the prior weekend storm, leading everyday services like mail delivery to be suspended for safety.
