Black Twitter has emerged as an online community for black individuals on Twitter to share their often marginalized voices and create their own narratives using stories, criticisms, and conversation. This study analyzes Black Twitter through a content analysis and thematic analysis of tweets to better understand this counterpublic space, focusing specifically on the use of black humor. The findings suggest that black humor on Black Twitter is used as a form of social critique, resistance, and signifying culture that conveys everyday experiences to issues of social justice and racial relations.
