1. Researchers used virtual screening to identify potential inhibitors of HCV NS5B RNA polymerase from the TIPO Natural Compound Database containing around 40,000 molecules. 2. Their results showed that some of the top 200 hits were compounds found in Taiwanese native plant species or common traditional Chinese medicines, including Agrimonia pilosa, Mallotus japonicus, and Magnolia officinalis. 3. Future work will involve establishing an assay system for NS5B and experimentally testing compounds from related plants to validate the reliability of the virtual screening model.
