Biomedical science dissertation UK
Description Dissertation title: “Gap junctions in health and disease. Are these good
therapeutic targets?” Summary of dissertation topic given by the university: “Gap junctions
play an important part in cell signalling in multicellular systems. They consist of membrane
channels through which molecules and ions pass directly from cell to cell. The structural
proteins of gap junctions are encoded by two gene families, connexins and
innexins/pannexins. Dysfunctional gap junctions are implicated in a wide variety of human
disorders including peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy, deafness, cataract and skin disorders.
This project will review the structure and functions of gap junctions, consider their
involvement in one or more disorder, and their potential as therapeutic targets. ” Will need
to include an abstract, contents, abbreviations, introduction, critical analysis (data analysis),
discussion and reference list section.#Biomedical #science #dissertation
