2. The way we see color is controlled by three genes: L, M, and S. They make photopigments, which help the
eye's cones see different light colors. L and M genes are found on the X chromosome, while the S gene is
found on chromosome 7. If someone gets two copies of the gene that causes color blindness, they might
have trouble seeing colors.
Color blindness is usually inherited as a recessive trait, meaning someone has to inherit two copies of the
gene that causes it to have the condition. Someone is more likely to inherit color blindness if their mother
has it.
How it works
3.
4. But why do Men get it more often than
women?
This is because males only have one X chromosome meaning they are homogametic, while
females have two making them hetero gameatic. If a male inherits a color blindness gene on his
X chromosome, he will have color blindness because he does not have a second X
chromosome to compensate for the non-functioning gene. Females, on the other hand, have two
X chromosomes, so if one X chromosome carries a color blindness gene, the other X
chromosome can compensate for it, and the female will not have color blindness.
5. Are there any cures to colour blindness
Are t
Right now, there's no cure for color blindness. But there are
special glasses and lenses that can make some people see colors
better. These glasses and lenses work by blocking certain types of
light and making colors look more different from each other.
However, they don't work for everyone and they don't totally cure
color blindness. Scientists are still trying to find new ways to treat
color blindness, but they're still experimenting and nothing has
been found yet.
6. Monochromatic vision - shades of grey
People with monochromacy see the world in shades of
gray because they have only one type of functioning cone
in their eyes instead of the normal three. This condition
can make it difficult to distinguish between colors, and can
also affect a person's depth perception and ability to see
in bright light.
7. Trichromatic vision - normal vision
- Where you rely on three different colour cones for
your colour seeing
- Humans have trichromatic vision
- Comes together to allow for millions of different
shades of colours
8. Dichromatic Vision
where one colour is missing
what happens is either the red or green cone will mimic
the other one (how color blindness tests work) this then
effectively mutes the information for that cone resulting in
a greyish tone being seen
Because brain uses these two main colours to generate
other colors, often people can only see blue tones
Colour blindness to red or green is is anomalous

11. Main
ideas
In summary, color blindness is a
condition where an individual has
difficulty distinguishing between different
colors. It is usually inherited as a
recessive trait and is more common in
males than in females because the
genes that control color vision are
located on the X chromosome. Different
types of color blindness occur
depending on which photopigments are
affected. There are currently no cures.
