The Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police at our 66th
Annual State Conference voted
unanimously to join with Ocala Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 129 President Brennan
Grady and the active and retired members of Ocala FOP Lodge 129 adding our full
endorsement and support for the election of Billy Woods as Marion County Sheriff.
William “Billy” Woods is well qualified through his extensive 25 year law enforcement
career with the Ocala Police Department where he currently serves as a Lieutenant and
Watch Commander. He worked his way up through the rank and file serving many roles as
an officer and supervisor. Billy is a 5th
generation Marion County resident with a long
history of community service. His father served 32 years with the City of Ocala Fire
Department.
He is well respected in his community; and through his professional leadership, by the
officers of the Ocala Police Department and deputies of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Wood’s career path and education in Criminal Justice and Business Management will
bring leadership and management skills to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that insures
the delivery of professional law enforcement services to the citizens of Marion County. He is
dedicated to keeping Marion County a safe place to live, work and raise a family. Lieutenant
Woods is the fresh and new face that Marion County needs to move forward into the future.
