This document summarizes an upcoming exhibition of paintings by Colin McCallum called "Signals" showing from May 25 to June 17, 2012. McCallum's paintings are inspired by the visual overload of consumer society, depicting elements seen in daily life like digital screens and supermarket packaging. Though usually overlooked, McCallum aims to create equivalent visual experiences from these sights. One series depicts hypnotic ripples in a pool representing the ideal that never exists. McCallum translates urban influences into vivid colors and forms that reveal an alternative reality beneath the surface.
