Dr. B.C. Roy was a renowned physician and politician from West Bengal. He was the first Chief Minister of West Bengal and served in that role from 1948 until his death in 1962. He made many contributions to the medical field in India, helping to establish major hospitals and the Medical Council of India. Dr. Roy also played a pivotal role in the industrialization of West Bengal and addressing the rehabilitation of refugees from East Pakistan. Due to his distinguished career and service, he was awarded India's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna.
