This document discusses how narratives surrounding terrorist attacks can be manipulated and shaped by society. It argues that while connecting known facts to form a narrative is not illogical, the narrative constructed can be influenced to achieve certain aims. The rise of ISIS is used as an example, explaining how exploiting tensions between religious sects helped them gain political power initially before adopting an inclusive Islamic identity. The document cautions that a focus on power and control through these narratives only serves to further divide and strengthen terrorist groups, and advocates for highlighting shared humanity across borders and groups instead.
Fanaticism and Barbarism: Synonyms of Dysfunctionality in Nigeria Todaypaperpublications3
Abstract: Civility is the language of decency, moderation, honesty, truthfulness, justice, equity, tolerance, mutual understanding, dialogue and mutual responsibility for the development of any society. There are other associated values and virtues, which are imbedded in the cultivation of civility in a polity such as patience and forgiveness. On the other hand, it renounces violence, coercion, destruction of life and property, as well as fanaticism and barbarism in every aspect of societal life. It denounces corruption and disorder. In fact, civility is antithetical to anarchy and lawlessness. But the reality of the Nigerian society manifests a total opposition to all the aforementioned virtues towards development and progress, especially with the current threats of Boko Haram and other political manipulations of the economy. It is in the light of this fact that the paper considers various acts of fanaticism and barbarism inflicted on the country, thus, challenging the sustainability of Nigeria as a nation.

t is clear to anyone with a half brain by now that President Obama has not offered a cohesive strategy for fighting ISIS. Since 2010, his determination to disengage from Iraq and Syria was evident in his refusal to assist the Free Syrian Army and keep U.S. forces in Iraq beyond 2011.
The document outlines the National Strategy for Combating Terrorism published in February 2003. It describes the evolving nature of the terrorist threat, including the rise of transnational terrorist networks like al-Qaeda that exploit globalization and technology. The strategy defines the goals of defeating terrorist organizations, denying them support and sanctuary, diminishing conditions they exploit, and defending U.S. citizens and interests at home and abroad. It proposes a multifaceted approach using all instruments of national power to fight terrorism globally and eradicate it at its roots.
The President addressed the nation about the terrorist attack in San Bernardino and the ongoing threat of terrorism. He outlined a four-part strategy to defeat ISIL, including continued airstrikes, support for forces fighting ISIL on the ground, disrupting ISIL's operations, and pursuing a political resolution in Syria. The President also called on Congress to restrict assault weapons and close background check loopholes, while avoiding long-term ground wars or turning against Muslim communities.
The document discusses terrorism and ways to counter it. It notes that terrorism has no borders and the recent Paris attacks showed this. While some military successes against terrorists have occurred, terrorism remains a threat. The document argues that poverty, lack of education, and not addressing basic human needs perpetuate crime and terrorism. It calls for citizens to support internally displaced people and troops fighting terrorism by being vigilant in communities and supportive of human welfare programs to establish conditions that do not enable terrorism.
The document summarizes a research paper on the causes and motivations of terrorism. It begins by defining terrorism and outlining its historical uses as a tactic by states and religious groups to consolidate power and enforce social control. It then examines legal definitions of terrorism in international law, US law, and laws of war. Finally, it explores possible political, social, and psychological motivations for terrorism, suggesting it can be used as a tactic to escalate conflict, disrupt societies, and demoralize populations.

The global dimension of international security and violence has stimulated the rise of youth in the world and Africa in particular. The focus is no longer on policing terrorism, but rather understanding the mutations and how education can help combat terrorism.
IN THIS SUMMARY
In No End to War, Walter Laqueur deals with the new elements in contemporary terrorism, why terrorism came so suddenly, and why it is so often and so thoroughly misinterpreted. Terrorism has changed over time and so have the terrorists, their motives, and the causes of terrorism. During the 1990s, a new factor arose that became the most prominent component of world terrorism: Islamic terrorism, especially from al Qa’ida under Osama bin Laden.

Ethno-Nationalist Terrorism
Terrorism is considered one of the most serious threats to global peace and security. It takes many forms such as hijackings, bombings, assassinations and shootings, and is a deliberate act intended to harm societies and spread fear in order to achieve political, ideological, or religious goals. While terrorism has no borders, globalization has increased interconnectivity between nations and created a "domino effect" where terrorist acts in one region can spread fear worldwide. Addressing the underlying socio-economic factors that terrorist groups exploit, such as poverty, inequality, and lack of opportunity, is key to effectively countering terrorism in the long run. Governments must also take smart, mature actions while educating citizens, as a war
This document discusses the definition and types of terrorism. It begins by exploring the origins and early definitions of terrorism, then examines how terrorism is currently defined by international organizations and different legal systems. The document outlines six categories of terrorism as defined by a US task force in the 1970s. It also discusses the challenges of terrorism in India, including ethno-nationalist, religious, and left-wing terrorism. The document concludes that while the concept of terrorism is controversial and politically charged, it remains a major challenge for India and its democracy.
