Edie is caught in an embarrassing situation at a colleague's wedding and blamed for it, damaging her reputation at work. As a result, she is forced to take a sabbatical and ghostwrite the autobiography of hot new actor Elliot Owen. However, ghostwriting for Owen proves difficult as he is used to always getting his way. In addition, moving back home to Nottingham to work on the project causes Edie to regress to her teenage years while living with her father and critical sister. The book follows Edie as she tries to determine who she is while dealing with the fallout from the workplace incident and difficulties that come with ghostwriting Owen's autobiography.
