3. WHAT IS BERMUDA TRIANGE
where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared
under mysterious condition. The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the
Devil's Triangle or Hurricane Alley.
4. The triangle itself is believed to stretch from Florida’s southern tip, to the
island of Bermuda, to Puerto Rico and then back to Florida.
The 500,000 square miles of ocean which make up the Bermuda Triangle
lie just off the coast of the most southeastern tip of Florida.
BERMUDA TRIANLE LOCATION
5. IS IT SCIENCE OR MIRACAL?
4
More than 50 ships and 20 planes have disappeared in the Bermuda
Triangle over the last century itself. From 1800-2019 almost 918 people
have been missing.
6. i. 1800: USS Pickering on course from Guadeloupe to Delaware, lost with
90 people on board.
ii. 1956: November 9, Martin Marlin lost ten crewmen taking off from
Bermuda.
iii. 1991: October 31, A Colombian plane disappeared with 67 people.
iv. 2017: May 15, A private MU-2B aircraft was at 24,000 feet when it
vanished from radar.
7. SCIENTIFICB THEORIES
Human Error
Human mistakes can not be ruled out in this area. More so because the vast water area in
Bermuda Triangle has so many islands that look so similar. It is easy to make a mistake
confusing one with another. And in such confusion if the captain takes a wrong turn or
direction, then he can slowly but surely get to such water area where it would be too late to
turn back and reach a land to refuel.
Compass Variation
Bermuda Triangle, there is a narrow strip where both these North's become the SOUTH.
Some claim that such Compass Variation could have been the cause for fatal accidents as
ships failed to determine the correct direction.
8. Strange Weather & Hurricanes
At times there are violent storms in the Bermuda Triangle area. These short but
intense storms can build up quickly and go away so fast that even a satellite can't
detect them properly. But these storms are strong enough to destroy ships or
planes completely. There are also waterspouts seen in this area.
Freak Waves
Very large waves can appear suddenly even in calm seas. One such rogue wave
caused the Ocean Ranger, then the world's largest offshore platform to capsize in
1982. Research has shown that freak waves up to 30m high & capable of sinking a
large ship within moments, can and do happen. Although these are very rare, in
some areas ocean currents indicate that they happen more often than normal.
9. SCIENTIFIC THEORIES
Here are the most powerful theories that try to explain and solve the
mysteries.
I. Human Error
II. Compass Variation
III. Strange Weather & Hurricanes
IV. The Sargasso Sea
V. Electronic Fog: A Hutchison effect
VI. The Whirlpools and the Blue Hole
VII.Methane Gas Theory
10. SUPERNATURAL THEORIES
Atlantis - The Lost City
Unidentified Flying Objects
There are other supernatural explanations as well. Some writers
attribute the events to UFOs.
One such explanation is based on the mythical lost city of Atlantis and
the advanced technologies the city had left behind
11. Conclusion - The Facts & Myths
There is no denying that many of the incidents reported on
Bermuda Triangle have actually taken place. Because a
plane or ship not returning or reaching its destination is
clearly recorded with official agencies concerned including
US Navy, US Coast Guard etc. And there have been hundreds
of such incidents. In few cases oil leakage, floats or wrecks
could be found while in others, there were no trace of
anything.... this is a fact.
