GAME PREVIEW: BEMIDJI AT NEBRASKA
The Axemen look to hand the Danger their second loss of the season.
Bemidji, MN – The 2-5 Bemidji Axemen travel to Nebraska to take on the 6-1 Danger this Friday at 7:00 P.M. The two teams are on
the opposite sides ofthe standings as Nebraska is in firstplace in the Intense Conference while Bemidji is in lastplace in the Unite d
Conference.
The Danger are coming off a 33-16 win over the Iowa Barnstormers thathelped them distance themselves from Tri-Cities in the
Intense Conference. Nebraska’s offense is ranked firstin total offensive yards with 1,771 yards. Their 51.1 points per gam e is second
in the IFL. The Danger defense leads the IFL with 13 interceptions along with being second with 18 sacks.Their 183.7 yards p er
game is the leastamountby any defense in the IFL.
Nebraska is led in passing byJameel Sewell who is 80-144 for 953 yards and 22 touchdowns.Sewell averages 158.8 passing yards
per game which is third in the league while his 22 passing touchdowns are also third in the league.The rushing attack for th e Danger
is a two headed monster with Waymon James rushing for 295 yards and six touchdowns while Sewell has rushed for 284 yards and
nine touchdowns.Both rank third and fourth in rushing yards per game while Sewell is ranked fourth in rushing touchdowns.Th e
passing game is spread outbetween Troy Evans who has brought in 27 receptions for 280 yards and two touchdowns while Kayne
Farquharson has broughtin 26 passes for 343 yards and a league leading 11 receiving touchdowns.
The Axemen are on a three game slide after dropping a close game 39-36 to the Cedar Rapids Titans in the lastminute lastSaturday
night. The Bemidji rushing attack has amassed 582 yards this season which is ranked third in the IFL. Their offense has also racked
up 135 total first downs which leads the IFL while the Axemen return game averages 16.2 yards per return which is good enough for
second in the league.The Bemidji defense has averaged 226.7 yards per game which is the fourth bestin the IFL.
Ryan Balentine started at quarterback for the Axemen versus the Titans and went15-26 for 164 passing yards and one passing
touchdown.Balentine also rushed for 69 yards two touchdowns. Mulku Kalokoh leads the third ranked rushing attack by rushing for
240 yards on 67 rushes and has scored eightrushing touchdowns.Josh Jarboe leads Bemidji in receiving with 44 receptions for 477
yards and six touchdowns.Jarboe’s 68.1 receiving yards per game is third bestin the IFL. Teams have been kicking away from
Kalokoh who still averages 21.4 yards per return and has broughtback four kicks for touchdowns.Kalokoh averages 112.3 all-
purpose yards per game.
The Danger are looking to extend their lead in the Intense Conference while the Axemen can still move up to third in the United
Conference with a win.
