Belgian culture is characterized by waffles made from flour, egg, sugar, honey, butter and vanilla that are eaten with chocolate, cream or jam. Several festivals celebrate Belgian culture, including the Ommegang Festival in Brussels in early July featuring costumed participants, horses, banners, flags and jousting. The Carnaval de Binche over three days in February includes music parades and fireworks. Belgium also has notoriously bad traffic, due to factors such as many people using company cars, living far from work, a lack of attractive public transportation alternatives, a strong economy, and a poorly designed road network.
