What is the BBFC The BBFC is a highly expert and experienced regulator of the moving image (especially film, video/DVD and video games), and also a service provider for new and developing media. The BBFC provide media industries with the security and confidence of cost-effective, publicly trusted regulation and help to protect providers of moving image content from inadvertent breaches of UK law.
The BBFC Certificates  U = this means that the film is suitable for everybody PG = parental guidance, this for the parent of the child to decide what is and what is not suitable for the child to watch 12 and 12A = only people aged 12 and over are able to watch a 12 film/programme. 12A category only exists in cinema films it is the same age classification as 12
15 = no one younger may see a film that is rated 15. 18 = a film rated 18 is only suitable for adults anyone below the age of 18 is not permitted to view an 18 film R18 = category is a special and legally restricted classification primarily for explicit works of consenting sex or strong fetish material involving adults.
