Mississippi Delta
• He was born to a family of poor
sharecroppers
• By age 7, he had to work in the
fields

King learned the basic of guitar from
his preacher. At age 12, he purchased
his first guitar for $15.00. He started
playing on the streets and learning
from other street performers. He soon
began playing nightclubs and had a
regular spot on a radio station.
King’s most famous and beloved guitar, named
“Lucille”.
