There are three main types of solar cells: monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and amorphous. Monocrystalline cells have the highest efficiency rate of 14-17%, followed by polycrystalline at 12-15%, and amorphous at 5-7%. All three types have metal contacts on both sides to provide electrical connectivity.
