We are excited to announce this year’s Fourth Annual Barefoot Benefit 5K and Fall Festival to
benefit the Samaritan Place of Knoxville! The event will take place on October 27th, 2013 at 2pm
on the grass in Cherokee Park, Sequoyah Hills Neighborhood. The Barefoot Benefit is a unique
event, organizedsolely by a group of students from the University of Tennessee’s College of
Business. These students break ties with normal classroom settings, and instead are challenged
to create a hands-on learning experience. The Barefoot Benefit was also the first ever barefoot
race and walk, and guided by Dr. Ernie Cadotte, we plan to make this year’s event bigger and
better than ever.
It is the overall mission of the Barefoot Benefit to bring the community together, both in
support of the Samaritan Place and to enjoy a beautiful day with friends and family. In order to
attract more student participation, we have moved this year’s event much closer to UT’s
campus and will have live local music throughout the day. Also, in an effort to make the event
more family friendly, there will be an exciting Fall Festival including activities such asface
painting, a Fall photo booth, crafts, various games and a raffle.
There are many ways in which you can help us excel, and, in turn, provide a successful event for
the Samaritan Place and the Knoxville community. We are in need of participants, volunteers,
sponsorships and promotion.
Please like us on Facebook and visit our website http://www.thebarefootbenefit.org/ to stay up
to date on details of the event. Also, feel free to e-mail us directly at
thebarefootbenefit@yahoo.com if you are interested in being a part of the Barefoot Benefit
2013.
Whether you want to participate, volunteer, sponsor or even just attend, we hope you can
make it out to this year’s event! Thank you for taking the time in reading this, and we truly
hope you will consider supporting the Barefoot Benefit.
