Bangkok is the capital and largest city of Thailand with a population of over 9.6 million people and a population density of 5,800 people per square kilometer, leading to crowding issues. Specifically, the Khlong Toey slum has a population of 100,000 people living in an area of only 1.5 square kilometers. Many slums exist in Bangkok due to factors such as rapid urbanization, poverty, lack of jobs, poor housing planning, and lack of infrastructure and social services. Over 2.5 million children in Bangkok do not attend school. The Foundation for Slum Child Care charity was created in 1981 to provide healthcare services to young children in the slums.
