The lighthouse was purchased in 1932 and joined to the main house in 1952. In 2001, construction began on expanding the facilities to include a visitor center, hotels, convention center, and spa. The resort opened for customers in 2004 and encompasses 1600 acres, including areas for facilities, gardens, and wildlife preservation.
