The lighthouse was purchased in 1932 and joined to the main house in 1952. In 2001, construction began on expanding the facilities to include a visitor center, hotels, convention center, and spa. The resort opened for customers in 2004 and encompasses 1600 acres, including areas for facilities, gardens, and wildlife preservation. Going public too early or through improper means can expose a company to unprepared pressures from investors and markets.
