3. BICYCLES/VE
LOCIPEDES
In 1817, a German aristocrat
named Karl von Drais invented
the first major advancement, a
steerable, two-wheeled device.
This early creation, also known
as the "velocipede," "hobby-
horse," "draisine," and "running
machine," has earned Drais the
title of "father of the bicycle."
4. The first bicycle
Karl Von Drais, was
credited in making the
first velocepedes. The
"swiftwalker," as his
machine was known, first
struck the road in 1817.
This early bicycle had no
pedals and a wooden
beam for a frame. Two
wooden wheels with iron
rims and leather-covered
tires protruded from the
contraption.

5. WHAT IS THE USE OF BICYCLE AND WHY
IS THIS INVENTED?
Bicycles are a popular mode of transportation, entertainment, and sport
(see cycling). Bicycles are crucial for transferring people and products in
locations where there are few automobiles around the world.
Bicycles were once considered a costly hobby, but mass production made
them a viable purchase for the working man, who could then ride to and
from work. Thousands of people were introduced to individual and
independent mobility, as well as greater leisure flexibility, thanks to the
bicycle.
6. HOW BIKE HELPS THE WORLD
AND ITS ENVIRONMENT?
Your bike doesn't run on
fossil fuels, so it doesn't
emit greenhouse gases.
... Riding a bike expands
your eco-friendly
footprint by keeping you
off the city's congested
streets. It also helps hold
down noise pollution.
Every time you take your
bicycle instead of the car,
you're giving the planet a
much-needed break.
7. GREAT INVENTIONS IS
NOT JUST THE BEAUTY
IT IN, BUT THE
THOUGHT OF HOW IT
HELPS THE COMMUNITY
PROSPER.
