This document describes the Impact Filter tool, which helps identify native fruit products with the most market potential by qualitatively evaluating their expected economic, social, environmental, and nutritional impacts. The Impact Filter is appropriate when time and funds are limited for thorough market assessments. It involves: 1) Identifying potential products and market opportunities, 2) Defining relevant impact indicators, 3) Weighting the indicators, 4) Scoring the products, 5) Calculating total impact scores. Groups in Thailand and India used the tool to evaluate 14 and 15 native fruit products respectively. Lessons learned include the need for balanced stakeholder representation and follow-up assessments to validate scores.
