AWS Control Tower now provides controls to meet data residency requirements. Specifically: - AWS Control Tower now offers new guardrails to provide more control over the physical location of where customer data is stored and processed, known as data residency. - With Control Tower's new data residency guardrails, customers can specify the AWS Region(s) where their customer data is stored and processed. They can also choose from 17 new guardrails to enable more granular data residency controls. - Customers can see the compliance status of the guardrails and whether their data residency requirements are being met in the AWS Control Tower console.

4. WHAT IS AWS CONTROL TOWER?
• AWS Control Tower provides the easiest way to set up and govern a
secure, multi-account AWS environment, called a landing zone.
• It creates your landing zone using AWS Organizations, bringing ongoing
account management and governance as well as implementation best
practices based on AWS’s experience working with thousands of
customers as they move to the cloud.
• If you are building a new AWS environment, starting out on your journey to
AWS, or starting a new cloud initiative, AWS Control Tower will help you
get started quickly with built-in governance and best practices.

5. ANNOUNCEMENT
• AWS Control Tower now offers new guardrails to provide more control
over the physical location of where customer data is stored and
processed, a concept known as data residency.
• Control Tower data residency guardrails help ensure customer data, the
personal data you upload to the AWS services under your AWS
account, is not stored or processed outside a specific AWS Region or
Regions.

6. HOW WILL IT HELP YOU?
• With Control Tower’s new data residency guardrails you can specify the AWS
Region or Regions your customer data is stored and processed in, and if you
need even more granular control, you can choose from 17 new guardrails
that are purpose-built to enable data residency controls, such as "Disallow
Amazon Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections”, or “Disallow internet
access for an Amazon VPC instance”.
• You can see the compliance status of the guardrails and whether your data
residency requirements are being met in the AWS Control Tower console.
