• Odd custom – dress up unrecognizable, bang on neighbors’ doors
demanding treats or you will do a “trick”
• In some (many?) neighborhoods, can actually be a very good way
for neighbors to mingle while kids have fun
• What happens to all that candy???

• Old enough to trick-or-treat with friends
• Came home and traded
• 5 Snickers for one Heath!
• Candy disappeared, doled out in packed lunches,
disappeared by All Saint’s Day, lasted until Easter
8. • Today – kids have many “Special occasions” for indulgent treats –
birthdays, holidays
• Give to Food Banks/Pantries? – they struggle to provide healthy
balanced nutritious foods/meals and often serve populations with
special needs
• Donate to Military? – they have healthy goals too
• Dentists – gift certificates? Who ultimately gets?
