ZBW is a member of the Leibniz Association and maintains the 20th Century Press Archives. The archives contain over 1 million digitized newspaper clippings from 1500+ newspapers covering persons, companies, products, and events. To ensure long term sustainability, ZBW is making the folder metadata from the archives openly available on Wikidata to allow for improved discovery, access, and maintenance of the metadata. Over 90% of person folders from the archives have already been linked on Wikidata. This integration with Wikidata will provide new interfaces and APIs for working with the press archive metadata.

The GRIAL research group was established at the University of Salamanca to conduct interdisciplinary research in fields related to human-computer interaction and e-learning. The group has numerous national and international research projects, teaches various university courses, and provides consulting services related to e-learning/technology solutions. Current projects include the MIH project to develop multilingual teaching tools on history and geography, and the ELVIN project to create an online social network for language learning in public administration.

While production and use of Open Education Resources are coming closer to a tipping point, in particular in english speaking areas - nations and regions using less used languages seem to by bypassed by development - and potential not in the position to share the benefits from modern education and learning. However, good examples exist, as the Netherlands. Which policies might be necessary to change the situation in areas lagging? Reviewing policy advices in light of the recent development - this presentation and action lab will consider policy advices to be released now. This is a LangOER action, presented and supported by LangOER, Open Education Consortium and ICDE in partnership.
B2NOTE is a semantic annotation service that allows adding additional information to data elements without changing the original data. It indexes over 5 million concepts from biomedical ontologies to facilitate semantic annotations. The presenter discusses expanding this approach to other domains by indexing more semantic resources. There are challenges around discoverability, interoperability, and metadata standards for semantic resources across domains. An EUDAT working group is developing a proof-of-concept semantic lookup service to register, aggregate, and provide analytics on multi-disciplinary semantic resources to help address these issues. Continued community support is needed to further develop semantic services and standards with broader disciplinary coverage.
The VIPI project aims to create a virtual portal to improve access to ICT training for disabled groups through online and mobile learning resources. Running from 2011-2013 with EU funding, the project involves partners from the UK, Belgium, Greece, Lithuania, and Cyprus developing multilingual training materials and an accessible online learning platform. The goal is to address barriers to ICT skills training for disabled people and connect stakeholders to promote employment opportunities.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

ABSTRACT: A prima vista, un mattoncino Lego e la backdoor XZ potrebbero avere in comune il fatto di essere entrambi blocchi di costruzione, o dipendenze di progetti creativi e software. La realtà è che un mattoncino Lego e il caso della backdoor XZ hanno molto di più di tutto ciò in comune.
Partecipate alla presentazione per immergervi in una storia di interoperabilità, standard e formati aperti, per poi discutere del ruolo importante che i contributori hanno in una comunità open source sostenibile.
BIO: Sostenitrice del software libero e dei formati standard e aperti. È stata un membro attivo dei progetti Fedora e openSUSE e ha co-fondato l'Associazione LibreItalia dove è stata coinvolta in diversi eventi, migrazioni e formazione relativi a LibreOffice. In precedenza ha lavorato a migrazioni e corsi di formazione su LibreOffice per diverse amministrazioni pubbliche e privati. Da gennaio 2020 lavora in SUSE come Software Release Engineer per Uyuni e SUSE Manager e quando non segue la sua passione per i computer e per Geeko coltiva la sua curiosità per l'astronomia (da cui deriva il suo nickname deneb_alpha).
