Visitors will make bumblebee gardens in plastic water bottles to learn about the importance of bees. They will decorate the bottles to look like bumblebees using yellow and black sharpies, foam wings, pom poms, pipe cleaners and googly eyes. The decorated bottles will then be planted with potting soil and seeds for flowers that provide food for bees like geraniums, asters and sunflowers. The activity aims to teach that while small, bumblebees have a large impact and provide pollination, so planting bee-friendly flowers can help their conservation.
