International Conference on Natural Fibers
1. To mark the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the National Institute of Research on
Jute and Allied Fiber Technology (NIR – JAFT), it organized a conference in
Kolkata.
2. The conference was called “International Conference on Natural Fibers”.
3. This was inaugural conference on such thing.
Varma Committee submits its report on IAS exam
pattern
1. The three member committee headed by Arvind Varma on IAS exam pattern has
submitted its report to the union government.
2. In its report the committee has suggested no change in the pattern of IAS
examination.
3. However, this is upto the union government what decision it takes.
4. The committee was formed to give report on the IAS exam pattern especially on
the CSAT paper of the Indian Civil Services examination.
Union govt. abolishes the need of attestation
1. The Union government has given the directives to the all the ministries (union
and state) for implementation of the same.
2. Now, people will be able to submit only self-attested necessary document asked
at various instances

Ramon Magsaysay Award 2014

amendment Bill

3. But, the culprit cannot be sentenced to death or life imprisonment in such case.
4. Maximum punishment prescribed under the same amendment is 3 years’

World’s Tallest Railway Bridge

121st Constitutional Amendment Bill: Judicial
Appointments Commission Bill 2014

introduced 121st constitutional amendment in the form of Judicial Appointment
Commission Bill 2014.
2. The will seeks to bring about changes in the current collegium system.

3. The new bill seeks to introduce a commission – Judicial Appointment
Commission (JAC) – which will be a 6 member body, and will be responsible for
the appointment and transfer of judges.
New Relic of Harappan Civilization found in UP
1. In Chandayan, Baghpat District UP a Human skull with copper crown has been
discovered.
2. The copper crown is 18cm long and 13 centimeter broad and in embedded with
carnelian (a semi-precious stone) beads.

Expenditure Management Commission

HP to host Paragliding World Cup

WHO clears use of ZMapp drug against Ebola
Virus

Health Organization has given permission for the use of ZMapp drug.

RBI Reduces number of Transaction from other
ATMs
1. In its recent move the central bank of India, RBI, has cut down the limit of
maximum transaction limit from other ATM (other ATMs means ATMs other
than that have been issued by the same bank of which ATM is being used).
2. Now, customers can withdraw money only 3 times from other ATMs. However,
money can be withdrawn from other ATM but customers have to pay rupee 20 as
transaction fee for each transaction.
3. This rule will be applicable from 1st November 2014.
4. However, limit of money withdrawal from the same ATM is 5 time. 6 times in
case of cities for Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Nagpur: First City to operate buses on Ethanol
1. Under the pilot scheme Nagpur has become the first Indian city to run public transport buses using ethanol.
2. The bio fuel operated buses stared in Nagpur under the “Green Bus Project”.

3. The ethanol run buses will minimized the carbon di-oxide emission in the environment by 70 to 90% depending the quality/ purity of this
bio fuel.

SC rules out 218 Coal mining licences as illegal

Union Government Launches .bharat domain

SC Rejected Gujarat Govt. Plea to remove Gir Lions
