Bella Mackie struggled with mental health problems and divorce in her late twenties. She found it difficult to get off the sofa, but one day decided to go for a run, which surprised her. Her first run did not last long, but she went out again the next day and continued doing so. By setting small, achievable goals for herself like running 5k in under 30 minutes, Bella was able to use running to help battle her crippling anxiety. In her book "Jog On", Bella explains candidly how taking up running helped lift her mood for the first time in years and aided her recovery.
