 Lesson 1
 Small habits make a big difference
 It is so easy to overestimate the importance
of one defining moment and underestimate
the value of making small improvements on a
daily basis.
 Focus on getting 1 percent better every day.
 Lesson 2
 Forget about setting goals. Focus on your
system instead.
 Goals are about the results you want to
achieve. Systems are about the processes that
lead to those results.
 Instead of focusing on dreams obsessively, it
is much better to focus on what habits you
need to create so that dreams will come true
slowly by themselves
 Lesson 3
 Build identity-based habits
 Your current behaviours are simply a
reflection of your current identity. What you
do now is a mirror image of the type of
person you believe that you are (either
consciously or subconsciously).
 To change your behaviour for good, you need
to start believing new things about yourself.
 A person has a dream to write a book.
However the dream remains dream and never
leads to action
 It would be much better for the person to
compose new tiny habits that would improve
their system to achieve the desired identity of
Author
 The New Habit Is Very Simple: Start by writing
1 page on daily basis at a fixed time.
 1. Make It Obvious
 Make the new habit as clear, measurable and
concrete as possible (Habit Implementation
Plan)
 Mistake is when we want to start a new habit
which is abstract
 e.g.
 Starting tomorrow, I will read books
 v/s
 every night before going to bed, I will read
this book for 10 minutes
 2. Start Small
 Take baby steps and simple actions
 Starting a new habit with small scale encourages
us to genuinely do it.
 Why? Because by nature most of us are lazy and
resist change. To fight the inertia, first action
should be small and simple
 e.g. every night before going to bed, I will read
this book for 10 minutes
 This smart at the beginning will slowly enlarge
due to effect of momentum.
 3. Do New Habit at the same hour/ point of
time
 Habits that are done at the same hour will be
easier to stick in your daily behavior
 e.g. every night before going to bed, I will
read this book for 10 minutes
 4. Attach New Habit to Past Habit
 It is easy to follow new habits when they are
attached to existing habits
 Existing habit acts as a reminder to new habit
 e.g. every night before going to bed, I will
read this book for 10 minutes
 Applying the same example, we can decide
that everyday, I will learn accounting
treatment of one new transaction and one
section of Income Tax.
 By the end of training, we might have nothing
left to read 
