Agenda
5. TBI, CTE, & PTSD Causes
Summary: This clinical trial studies the beneficial effects of TLT on TBI & CTE. It is thought to be a breakthrough treatment, up to ten
times faster, better and cheaper than other TBI treatments. Rather than focusing on diagnosing CTE, we are fast-forwarding and
focusing on treating and curing the overlapping symptoms and underlying causes of CTE & TBI.
What is TLT? Transcranial Laser Therapy is a strong infrared laser applied directly through the skull into the brain.
Research Study: TLT, A Breakthrough Treatment for TBI & CTE
PTSD
TBI
CTE
Causes of TBI, CTE, PTSD: These three diseases overlap. They are loosely called neuro-
psychiatric or neuro-cognitive disorders.
TBI, Traumatic Brain Injury, results from head trauma. Mild TBI is most common, with loss
of consciousness 1-20 minutes. Each year, 2 million TBIs occur in the US, resulting in
275,000 hospitalizations and 52,000 deaths.
CTE, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, results from multiple head trauma, with or without
loss of consciousness. CTE is thought to be due to the build-up of an abnormal protein
called tau in the brain. CTE is a disease of athletes with repetitive head trauma.
PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, results from physical or mental trauma. PTSD
affects about 8 million Americans annually. Among civilians, more women than men are
affected. Combat Veterans have the highest incidence, as high as 30-40%. Wounded
Warriors frequently have both TBI and PTSD.
6. Symptom overlap: TBI, CT, & PTSD share most of their symptoms. Many of these symptoms can be traced to
dysfunction of the brain’s frontal cortex.

7. Advantages of TLT: Transcranial Laser Therapy uses an FDA-approved high-power laser
for a new indication. It is non-invasive, painless, and can bring a rapid and permanent cure
to some of the root causes of TBI, CTE, and PTSD.
Study Summary: This study uses a 2.5X higher dose of TLT than has previously been used.
40 patients with symptoms of CTE, TBI, and/or PTSD will be studied. The study population
is former NFL players and Vets.
Who Benefits: Kids - Athletes - Vets
20,000 Former NFL players
1,800 Active NFL players
Millions of Former College & High School athletes
3 Million Kids annually with concussions from sports
1+ Million Vets with PTSD
8 Million Americans with PTSD
