Active Living
Cleveland, Ohio
Professor Randy Doi
Fall 2015
Cleveland is a young and fast paced city. There are many
opportunities for young families and professionals. The city is
working toward a walkable urban environment; in turn moving
away from an automotive dominated city. The goal is to create
an environment to fit a variety of household sizes and attract
adventurous visitors year round. This idea takes advantage of
the active riverfront and the towpath. Cleveland lacks a direct
connection to the riverfront and has the potential to utilize it.
The urban dweller would enjoy a short commute to work and
their spare time living an adventurous life on the river.

Night Stand
Professor Jon Yoder
Spring 2015
The night stand is a product of studying LA Modernism. The
aim was to create a sleek night stand that played on the mid-
century modern style. Consider most in this study was object
and void. Finishes were then considered in the sense of
contrast. Modularity was a large part in reference to the
modern style. All of the studies were made using the same
pieces in different orientations. The final constructed model
consider new technologies as a design tool.

Professor Charles Harker
Fall 2014
Sandusky has experienced a lot of issues pertaining to water
quality along with environmental related issues due to the
imbalance of the lake. Through design, a facility to improve the
quality of the lake and the adjacent areas is possible. The
ecology center incorporates a bioswale and a living machine to
enhance water quality. Educational programs and resources
are worked into the building to raise awareness of the current
environmental issues in a fun and intriguing way.

Summer 2014
This project aimed toward the expression of women’s
empowerment and pride in the Congo. The GMF school for
girls teaches young girls and women how to read and write.
They value literacy and an independent woman.
Textiles are a very prominent trade within the Congo among
women. These textiles tell a story or symbolize something of
value. A bird represents freedom.
