2. Patient Recruitment Strategy
• Lima is the 30th largest city in the world , close to 10 Million Population
• Internet penetration has empowered patients to search and find medical
information directly
• Facebook penetration in the City of Lima was over 80% of the adult Population
that had internet and predominantly via smartphone
• Research Center Facebook Page over 5 years. Close to 35,000 likes
• Our previous Social Media Outreach campaigns led to a significant number of
patients registered for other indications , with minor and moderate increase in
pts enrollment
• Asthma is close to 10% prevalent in the population in Lima
• The study called for patients with mild and moderate Asthma which is close to
90% of the asthmatic patients
• A Recruitment Site Team at was set up in advance to enrollment initiation
• The sponsor supported our strategy

7. Final Comments
• For this asthma study with pts with mild to moderate Asthma Facebook
recruitment strategy proved to be effective in yielding high number of
randomized pts
• Singular position of being the TOP Global enroller, the next best site
globally randomized xx pts
• If the study would have been implemented by any or several of the
Pneumologist(s) at the Clinica Ricardo Palma, would not have yielded a
comparative number of Randomized pts.
• This a solid evidence that a non traditional recruitment strategy could
yield a high number of randomized pts(outlier) in certain indications
› The Sponsor for this Study dared to support our approach and together
we were able to convert this effort to a truly successful story
› We believe that this experience is a protagonist event in how patient
recruitment could change.
