1. Summary
Asthma is a lung disorder. It has symptoms like shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing. When an asthma attack occurs, the bronchial tubes of a person become narrow or contract. Usually asthma attacks occur because of an allergic reaction to a foreign substance. For example, inhaling cigarette smoke or pollen may cause an asthma attack. To help a person suffering from an asthma attack there is an inhaling medicine that relaxes the bronchial tubes. This is the most common treatment for an asthma attack.

Application
The way I would apply this information to my life is when an emergency situation where my tutor, who suffers from asthma, gets an attack, I will check if she has problems breathing, if she is coughing, or wheezing. If she is, I will ask her if she has her inhaling medicine and give it to her. Also, I know she is allergic to pollen so I would avoid keeping flowers around my study room. Or in case of a very bad situation, I would call for an ambulance. So this information really helped me understand what asthma is and how to tell if a person has an asthma attack.
