The Asscher cut diamond was created in 1902 by the Asscher brothers in Holland. It gained popularity slowly at first but became very popular in the 1920s. However, its popularity faded over time until a new version was created in 2002 that had a better design and quality than the original. The contemporary Asscher cut diamond has a square or rectangular shape with large step facets and a higher crown, producing more shine than other cuts. It maintains its unique shape well with a four prong setting. Asscher diamonds look amazing in engagement rings and can also be used in other jewelry like necklaces and bracelets.
